Shelley Callaghan

Shelley Callaghan - MGIC Sr. Marketing Program Manager

Shelley joined MGIC in the mid-80s and currently serves as a Senior Marketing Program Manager. She is primarily responsible for MGIC's online and classroom technical training programs.

Through the years, she’s worn many different hats, including managing an MGIC Underwriting Service Center and working on MGIC's national Field Operations team. Her technical savvy is built on her extensive, practical experience and drives the value she places on a strong technical foundation.

Geoffrey Cooper

Geoffrey Cooper - Vice President Product Development

Geoff Cooper is Vice President – Product Development at Mortgage Guaranty Insurance Corporation (MGIC).

With over 28 years of experience in the mortgage and banking industries, Geoff has been with MGIC for 19 years in various positions, from leading the Company’s affordable lending efforts to overseeing its community bank strategy. He is also past Director of Single Family at Wisconsin Housing & Economic Development Authority, and served as Policy Advisor to the Wisconsin Commissioner of Banking.

Margaret Crowley

Margaret Crowley - MGIC VP Marketing and Customer Experience

Margaret Crowley is Vice President of Marketing & Customer Experience at MGIC. She and her team are responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies to support the field sales team and business partners nationwide. In addition, Margaret leads MGIC’s Customer Experience efforts. Margaret has been with MGIC for over 30 years and held a variety of technology and marketing positions.

Margaret holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Alverno College.

Sean Dilweg

Sean Dilweg - MGIC Sr. VP Government Relations

Sean is currently Senior Vice President of Government Relations at Mortgage Guaranty Insurance Corporation (MGIC). In his role, he leads one of the largest mortgage insurer’s regulatory and political relations in Washington and the states. He actively works on federal legislation regarding GSE and FHA reforms. Sean joined MGIC from CUNA Mutual Group where he most recently served as the President of CMG Mortgage Insurance Company. He successfully brought the mortgage insurance business through a three-year turnaround and a sale transaction in February of 2014 to launch Arch MI.

Sean served as the Insurance Commissioner for Wisconsin from 2007 to 2011, overseeing the regulation of all insurance in the state including health, life, mortgage and bond insurers through one of the worst financial crises in U.S. history. In this role, he was the Receiver for Ambac Assurance and was responsible for overseeing the de-risking of the Ambac Assurance Corporation located in New York City, the second largest financial guarantee insurer in the nation. He was an active member of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) serving on a variety of committees including the Financial Condition Committee and the Securities Valuation Office which is involved in a number of aspects of insurance company finances and securities.

Sean currently serves as an Independent Director for Kroll Bond Rating Agency (KBRA) in New York. He also serves as a Director, Finance Chair and Treasurer for the Physicians Plus Insurance Company in Madison.

Mr. Dilweg earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Lawrence University and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He is married with 2 children and resides in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Ted Durant, MBA

Ted Durant - MGIC VP Model Development & Portfolio Analytics

Ted Durant has been with MGIC for over 20 years and is currently the Vice President of Model Development & Portfolio Analytics. As the nation's largest provider of private mortgage insurance, MGIC has a considerable interest in statistical analysis and forecasting of home prices, prepayment and default risk. The analytic services group at MGIC provides those tools both to internal users and externally to MGIC's clients.

In addition to his work at MGIC, Ted has experience in oil & gas exploration, real estate development, chocolate manufacturing, and bicycle manufacturing and retailing.

Ted earned his MBA in Real Estate from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, his BA in Economics from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, and he grew up on the south shore of Massachusetts Bay. He now lives with his wife and two daughters in Milwaukee, where he serves on the board of directors of the Center for Communication, Hearing and Deafness and enjoys riding bicycles year round.

Carrie Edwards

Carrie Edwards, Special Education Teacher

Carrie Edwards has been a cross-categorical special education teacher for 25 years. She is most energized by finding solutions for her students that make learning easier and bring smiles to their faces. Her students are her absolute favorite part of her job and she’s missing them like crazy these days! Carrie is married to Vance Edwards, Marketing Program Director at MGIC and mom to Hailey, 22, a college senior and Trevan, 17, a high school senior. They all enjoy playing games, hiking, and traveling.

Vance Edwards, CMB

Vance Edwards, CMB - MGIC Marketing Program Director

Vance Edwards joined MGIC in 1999 and currently serves as MGIC's Marketing Program Director. Among Vance’s responsibilities is heading up MGIC’s Marketing Promotions Team which oversees MGIC sales training efforts, marketing of MGIC programs and co-branding efforts with MGIC customers.

In addition, Vance leads MGIC initiatives with Realtors and consumers, especially first-time homebuyers. He has spoken numerous times to Realtors® and loan originator audiences on topics including: first-time homebuyers, QM, economic overview, mortgage industry, and sales skills.

Vance lives in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin with his wife Carrie and children Hailey and Trevan.

Vance is a certified FICO professional and earned a Certified Mortgage Banker ("CMB") designation from the MBA.

MGIC, featuring Alanna McCargo

Alanna McCargo, Urban Institute Vice President, Housing Finance Policy

Alanna McCargo is vice president for housing finance policy at the Urban Institute, where she focuses on management, development, and strategy for the Housing Finance Policy Center, including the cultivation of innovative partnerships within Urban and with external stakeholders.

McCargo has over 20 years of experience in housing finance, policy, and financial services. She has worked in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors on programs, policies, and research to improve access to housing and mortgage finance. Before joining Urban, McCargo was head of CoreLogic Government Solutions, working with federal and state government agencies, regulators, government-sponsored enterprises, think tanks, and universities to deliver custom data, analytics, and technology solutions to support housing and consumer policy research. Previously, McCargo held leadership roles with Chase and Fannie Mae, managing portfolios, policy efforts, and mortgage servicing transformation and alignment. From 2008 to 2011, she was an agent of the US Treasury Department on housing programs, such as Making Home Affordable and Hardest Hit Funds, working with industry stakeholders on the recovery.

McCargo serves on nonprofit boards and committees, focusing on her passion for helping underserved populations with financial literacy, economic stability, and housing security. She works with Doorways for Women and Families, Women in Housing and Finance, and DC Habitat for Humanity.

McCargo has a BA in communications from the University of Houston, an MBA from the University of Maryland, and an executive certificate in nonprofit management from Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy.

Ben Carson, U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development

On March 2nd, 2017, Dr. Benjamin S. Carson, Sr., M.D., was sworn in as the 17th Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

For nearly 30 years, Secretary Carson served as Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, a position he assumed when he was just 33 years old, becoming the youngest major division director in the hospital’s history. In 1987, he successfully performed the first separation of craniopagus twins conjoined at the back of the head. He also performed the first fully successful separation of type-2 vertical craniopagus twins in 1997 in South Africa.

Dr. Carson received dozens of honors and awards in recognition of his achievements including the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor. He is also a recipient of the Spingarn Medal, the highest honor bestowed by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

Dr. Carson authored nine books, four of which he co-wrote with his wife Candy. The U.S. News Media Group and Harvard’s Center for Public Leadership named him among “America’s Best Leaders” in 2008.

Dr. Carson and his wife co-founded the Carson Scholars Fund, which recognizes young people of all backgrounds for exceptional academic and humanitarian accomplishments. The Fund is currently operating in 50 states and the District of Columbia, and has recognized more than 7,300 scholars, awarded more than $7.3 million in scholarships, and installed more than 150 Ben Carson Reading Rooms around the country.

Born in Detroit to a single mother with a 3rd grade education who worked multiple jobs to support their family, Secretary Carson was raised to love reading and education. He graduated from Yale University and earned his M.D. from the University of Michigan Medical School. He and his wife are the proud parents of three adult sons and three grandchildren.

Ditrick Dunn, Founder, Integral Funding Solutions

Ditrick brings over twenty-seven years of experience in investment banking, mortgage origination sales, commercial and residential real estate, servicing, and structured finance to Integral Funding Solutions(“IFS”), a boutique investment bank that caters to family office, private equity, venture capital, institutional investors, financial services and asset management partners.

Co-founder of Strategic Venture Partners ("SVP") and Mortgage Venture Partners (“MVP"). Before founding SVP and MVP, Ditrick was a Senior Business Development Executive for BSI Financial Services, a special servicing, quality control and asset management business. Prior to BSI, he was a partner at Charles Spencer and Company, a boutique investment bank, specializing in structured acquisition, development and expansion capital needs. Also, he worked as a dedicated resource for community banks, SBA, USDA and private lenders, structuring lending and loan programs for the small to middle markets.

Ditrick also worked as a Senior Account Executive and Area Manager with Countrywide Home loans, where he was a nationally ranked, top-producing loan originator and manager for 10 years. Ditrick also worked as a Director of Sales and Marketing wherein he offered management consulting services for multi-family investors. Ditrick began his career serving in the U.S. Army during Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

MGIC, featuring Gwen Moore

Congresswoman Gwen Moore, U.S. Representative for Wisconsin’s 4th Congressional District

Congresswoman Gwen Moore was elected to represent Wisconsin’s 4th Congressional District in 2004, making her the first African American elected to Congress from the State of Wisconsin. She is a member of the esteemed House Ways and Means Committee, which is the oldest committee in the United States Congress and has jurisdiction over the Social Security system, Medicare, the Foster Care System, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, Unemployment Insurance, and all taxation, tariffs, and revenue-raising measures. She serves on the Oversight, Select Revenue Measures, and Worker and Family Support Subcommittees.

On the Oversight Subcommittee, Congresswoman Moore works to guarantee that the laws within the jurisdiction of the Committee are being implemented and carried out efficiently and in accordance with Congressional intent. She is also a member of the Select Revenue Measures Subcommittee, working to create a more fair and progressive tax code that provides Americans greater opportunity and financial security. And she oversees a range of critical supports for workers, children, and families as a member of the Worker and Family Support Subcommittee.

Kristy Fercho, Flagstar Bank Executive Vice President, President of Mortgage

Kristy Fercho joined Flagstar Bank in 2017 as executive vice president and president of Mortgage. In this capacity, she is responsible for the direction and oversight of all aspects of mortgage and secondary marketing for Flagstar and for the continued expansion of Flagstar’s mortgage business. Flagstar is the nation’s fifth largest bank mortgage originator.

Prior to Flagstar, Fercho spent 15 years with Fannie Mae, ultimately serving as senior vice president, customer delivery executive, responsible for the end-to-end strategy and business performance of all single-family customers in the western United States, representing an acquisition volume of over $300 billion. Her experience in the mortgage industry is broad and deep, covering mortgage originations, fulfillment, risk management, secondary marketing, servicing, technology initiatives, and regulation.

Prior to Fannie Mae, she worked for eight years at PepsiCo, reaching the level of director of Human Resources for several corporate functions worldwide. Fercho began her career at Baxter Healthcare in sales, operations, and HR positions.

Fercho is vice chairman of the board of the Mortgage Bankers Association and co-chair of its Affordable Homeownership Advisory Council. She also serves on the boards of City Year and the Detroit Zoological Society. MReport honored her as one of the Top Women in Housing, Diversity Journal listed her among its Women Worth Watching, National Mortgage Professional Magazine named her to its list of Most Powerful Women, and the Michigan Chronicle selected her for its Women of Excellence recognition.

Lenny McNeill, U.S. Bank Executive Vice President, National Strategic Markets & Affordable Lending

Lenny McNeill is the National Managing Director and Executive Vice President for U.S. Bank’s Consumer Lending businesses. As a member of the executive leadership team McNeill oversees the strategy, development, and implementation of the affordable lending sales process and expansion of enhanced product offerings catering to the diverse US Bank client base, as well as ensuring compliance with regulation in the mortgage lending space.

As a 32-year mortgage banking professional, McNeill leverages his unique expertise in the development of affordable lending programs to support U.S. Bank’s multicultural lending strategy. His vast experience has helped U.S. Bank build sales distribution and strategic partnerships, apply advanced market analytics and support regulatory compliance to benefit the bank across business lines .

Steve Thomas, FHLBank Chicago Senior Managing Director, Mortgage Capital Markets

Steve Thomas has over twenty years of residential mortgage experience and is Senior Managing Director of Mortgage Capital Markets at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago where his team is responsible for the bank’s mortgage-related loan and bond investment portfolio acquisitions and the FHLB System’s Mortgage Partnership Finance (MPF®) pricing, pipeline hedging and capital markets functions. Steve also recently served for four-years as Co-Director of the bank’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion and Co-Chair of the FHLB System’s OMWI Council- Capital Markets Supplier Diversity Subcommittee and is on the Executive Council which governs the American Mortgage Diversity Council.

In the past, Mr. Thomas served as a Managing Director at CastleOak Securities, responsible for directing CastleOak’s Mortgage Finance Group and as the Senior Vice President-Capital Markets and co- founder of American Mortgage Capital Group (“AMCG”), a $200mm mortgage hedge fund. Earlier in his career Mr. Thomas held officer level roles in capital markets at Fannie Mae, Countrywide Home Loans and Hyperion Capital Management.

Mr. Thomas began his professional career by serving his country as a Naval Officer in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and is a 1992 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a BA in Economics and a minor in Japanese Studies. Today, he also serves as a Board member of Mercy Housing-Lakefront, a part of Mercy Housing which is the nation’s largest non-profit developer and owner of affordable housing.

Danny Garcia-Velez

Danny García-Vélez, Senior Marketing Program Manager

Danny García-Vélez joined MGIC in June 2017 as a Senior Marketing Program Manager. Under his direction, his team develops and executes MGIC’s community lending efforts, including researching, designing and implementing business and marketing strategies across the customer channels of Credit Unions, Community Banks and Housing Finance Agencies. Additionally, Danny is responsible for leading MGIC’s digital marketing strategy.

Prior to joining MGIC, Danny was the Vice President of Programs and Counseling for the Homeownership Preservation Foundation (HPF), a national nonprofit that provides financial coaching and counseling to at-risk consumers through the Homeowners Hope Hotline. Danny managed the organization’s operations and relationships with mortgage servicers, investors, GSEs and government.

He lives in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin with his wife, three children and one dog.

David Greco, MBA

David Greco - MGIC VP of Operational Risk

Dave is Vice President of Operational Risk at Mortgage Guaranty Insurance Corporation. He is responsible for managing the performance of MGIC's flow primary mortgage insurance book. His functional areas of responsibility include Computer Assisted Underwriting, Quality Control, Portfolio and Lender Monitoring, and Lender and Loan Program Review and Approval. Dave has been with MGIC since 1988 and held a variety of Marketing and Sales positions prior to joining Risk Management in 2003.

Dave holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and finance from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a Masters in Business Administration from Marquette University.

Garrett Hartzog

Garrett A. Hartzog, Product Development Director

Garrett A. Hartzog joined MGIC in 2016 and is currently a Product Development Director. His work here cuts across organizational boundaries, including establishing a channel to insure seasoned loans on a bulk basis, supporting MGIC’s public policy and government relations work, and evaluating new product and partnership opportunities. Since 2004, Garrett has held a variety of Mortgage Insurance related roles at PMI Mortgage Insurance, Bank of America, and the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA). He earned his Master of International Business Studies from the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina, where he was in the German track and focused on coursework in Finance and Marketing. Garrett also holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University, with a major in Finance and minors in Computer Science and Theology.

Jim Honeck

Jim Honeck - Senior Marketing Program Manager

Jim Honeck first joined MGIC in 1989 and returned in 2017 and currently serves as MGIC’s Senior Marketing Program Manager. Among Jim’s responsibilities are heading up MGIC’s Inside Sales Team, Vendor Due Diligence, Marketing of MGIC programs and the RFP process. Jim has been in the mortgage insurance industry for 27 years and has held a variety of positions in sales and marketing.

Tom LaMalfa

Tom LaMalfa, President, TCL Consulting

Tom Laposki

Tom Laposki - MGIC Compliance Manager

Tom has been with MGIC for 30 years and currently serves as MGIC’s Compliance Manager in Claims. Among Tom’s responsibilities is heading up corporate efforts to investigate and track fraud and misrepresentation on MGIC business.

In addition, Tom leads initiatives to train and bring awareness of fraud issues to the company through participation and attendance of MBA fraud conferences and panel discussions.

Tom received his degree from the University of Wisconsin - River Falls in Business Administration and Speech Communications. He lives in Franklin Wisconsin with his wife Kris and two daughters.

Craig Lonsinger, CCUE

Craig Lonsinger - MGIC Sr. Marketing Program Manager

Craig is a Senior Marketing Program Manager at MGIC. He and his team are responsible for developing and implementing business and marketing strategies that leverage MGIC’s organizational strengths and innovation to support our field sales organization and partners nationwide.

Craig is a 1992 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, and over the past 23 years he has held management, sales, and marketing roles within the lending and insurance industries. Prior to becoming a Senior Program Marketing Manager, he supported our partnerships in Western New York as an MGIC Senior Account Manager.

Craig is passionate about developing solutions that support the success of our partnerships. He currently resides in Wisconsin with his wife Michelle and daughter Lauren.

Sal Miosi

Sal Miosi - MGIC EVP, Business Strategy and Operations

Sal Miosi joined MGIC in 1988 and is currently the Executive Vice President of Business Strategy and Operations. His responsibilities include leading MGIC’s policy acquisition and underwriting operations, policy servicing, marketing, product development and strategic planning.

During his career at MGIC, he has led several business and technology initiatives, including the creation and management of Prior to his current role, he served as Vice President of Marketing.

Sal holds an MBA from Marquette University and a bachelor's degree from UW-Milwaukee.

Mike Mueller

Mike Mueller - MGIC Integration Services Analyst

Mike Mueller currently serves as an Integration Services Analyst in the eCommerce Services department and works to improve and optimize MGIC’s integration efforts with lenders and the service providers that lenders use. Mike currently also serves as the co-chair of the MISMO Mortgage Insurance Work Group and has been involved with data standards development for over 20 years.

He holds a BS from UW-Milwaukee, focused in Real Estate. He resides with his wife and son in Grafton, Wisconsin.

Carolyn Omelina

Carolyn Omelina - Business Analyst in Loss Mitigation

Carolyn joined MGIC in 1998 as a mortgage loan underwriter and currently holds the title of business analyst for MGIC's Loss Mitigation/Investigations Department. Carolyn's experience includes managing a team of internal investigative underwriters and external nation-wide private investigators.

One of Carolyn’s primary focuses is managing the MGIC Orchestrated Fraud Unit which aggregates information obtained through MGIC's fraud investigations and externally published fraud information. This information supports MGIC's corporate-wide efforts related to the identification of mortgage loan fraud for the Claims Department, Field Underwriting, Risk Management and Quality Control units

Tim Riemer

Tim Riemer – MGIC Product Development: Program Manager

As a member of MGIC’s Business Intelligence (BI) Team, Tim Riemer plays a lead role in mortgage market surveillance and analysis which informs product development efforts. His 16 years in the residential mortgage industry consist of 12 years with MGIC in Marketing and Product Development, plus 4 years as an originator in southeast Wisconsin and northeast Illinois. Tim holds a BS in Finance and Economics from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse.

Lloyd San

Lloyd San - MGIC Mortgage Market Manager

A 30-year mortgage industry veteran, Lloyd San currently serves as Mortgage Market Manager for Mortgage Guaranty Insurance Corporation (MGIC). Overseeing a national effort, he’s responsible for managing all client-related capital market activities in the areas of bulk and correspondent loan referrals, investor introductions, structured products, whole loan sales, as well as product and personnel introductions.

In addition, he is chairman of the California Mortgage Bankers Association, Secondary Marketing Executive Committee and also serves on the Western Secondary Conference Committee.

A graduate of San Diego State University in California, Lloyd received his MBA in Financial Management from National University. He also holds a California Real Estate Broker’s License.

Patrick Sinks

Patrick Sinks - MGIC Chief Executive Officer

Patrick Sinks has been MGIC’s Chief Executive Officer since March 1, 2015. He served as the company’s President and Chief Operating Officer from 2006 to 2015, and held senior executive positions with MGIC for more than five years before then.

Mr. Sinks earned his MBA from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Mary College, and completed the Advanced Management Program at Duke University’s FUQUA School of Business.

Ben Smidt, MA

Ben Smidt - MGIC Digital Strategy Manager

Ben Smidt serves as MGIC’s Digital Strategy Manager. He leads corporate development and management of MGIC's digital marketing strategy across the enterprise. This includes establishing a clear vision for all digital marketing initiatives and providing strategic direction for the company's digital and social media marketing efforts. His primary goal is to increase brand awareness and improve user experience (UX). Additional responsibilities include PPC budget strategy and management of ad spend.

In addition to the insurance industry, Ben has a combined 10 years of experience in computer software, education and publishing industries. His focus has always remained in the area of education and digital marketing for media and technology.

He holds an MA from Marquette University in media channel effectiveness and digital communications, as well as a BS from UW-Madison focused in communications. He resides with his wife, daughter and son in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.

Zak Stoiber

Zak Stoiber - MGIC Digital Marketing Specialist

Zak Stoiber joined MGIC in 2014 and serves as MGIC's Digital Marketing Specialist. Zak's focus is content creation in the form of writing, editing and research on all topics mortgage industry related. His primary goal is to raise awareness and increase education among mortgage professionals through MGIC's digital channels.

In 2012 he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Arts from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and resides in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Harper Wong

Harper Wong - Director, Community Lending Solutions at MGIC

Harper Wong has been in the lending industry since 1991 and joined MGIC in 1998. As Director - Community Lending Solutions, Harper is focused on affordable housing and supporting diverse trade groups. Based in Northern California, Harper has spent over twenty years focused on cultivating sustainable homeownership and educating lenders, originators and industry partners regarding low down payment options.

Mike Zimmerman, MBA

Mike Zimmerman - MGIC Sr. VP Investor Relations

Mike is the Senior Vice President of Investor Relations at MGIC Investment Corporation. In this role, he is responsible for managing a comprehensive investor relations and corporate communications strategy that is designed to manage the company's reputation, as well as educate and update investors and media about the company's operating results and strategies.

Mike joined MGIC in 1995 in the Capital Markets department and has over more than 30 years of broad-based mortgage banking experience. He has authored several articles about the mortgage industry and has spoken at National MBA conferences, Regional MBA conferences, Bank Administration Institute and the Institute for International Research conferences.

He holds an MBA from the Keller Graduate School of Management and a degree in Business Administration from St. Ambrose University.
